The upshot for the comic is that the real world will still take priority and updates will continue to be very sporadic. However, my resolution is to make more time for the comic. I find I am more energized when I am being creative, and I lost my zest in 2011, the whole time I wasn’t doing the comic or at least drawing *something* every day.

It is so rewarding to make comics for you. I enjoy writing and drawing, but my enjoyment grows when I can share the comics with you.  Talking with you in the comments and on facebook and twitter adds to the whole experience.  That’s why when I’m counting my blessings this year, I include those of you who read and enjoy Life’s a Witch.

Happy Thanksgiving, one and all! Here in the US, this is the day of family gathering, sharing a HUGE meal and for some, sports! Thanksgiving’s actually a pretty big deal over here. I know other countries that celebrate consider it a minor holiday, but over here it is the main family gathering holiday on par with Christmas.  It was a big deal when we moved so far away that we couldn’t spend Thanksgiving with at least ONE side of the family.

Now, however, it’s been just the four of us for the big holidays so often that we have our own traditions and routines apart from our parents. I hope when the kids grow up and move away, they want to come home for the big holidays.  Even if we spend the day playing boardgames and watching movies, it is just so much better when we’re together.

I hope you have a long list of things to be thankful for this year.  This has been a rough year for a lot of us, I know, but if you think REAL HARD, I bet you can find 10 things at LEAST to acknowledge gratitude for in your life.

By the way, I’ve added the readers of this comic and blog to my list! Thank you for following along with me and the Life’s a Witch gang. I seriously love sharing my joy with you all.

[UPDATE: Linda printed out the card and beautifully bound and decorated it. She told me in an email:

I re-read each page as it came out of the printer and it really touched me. To see it online is amazing but to hold each page and read each one up close.... I just can't put into words how much this means to me.

Doesn't that make you smile? Linda told me that the online card was a big hit. Her Aunt Glenda was amazed that so many strangers would take the time to write a note or send a card to her.

Thank you all for helping make this birthday so sweet for Linda, Aunt Glenda and her family. ~S]

My friend Linda has a dear aunt that has lost the fight against cancer. Her upcoming birthday will be her last and Linda thought it would be nice for Aunt Glenda and her family to have her room filled with birthday greetings and well wishes.

Aunt Glenda has fought the battle with grace and humor and love. I know that had she been among us, she would be one of our friends because she’d fit right in!

Here is the note that Linda posted on our forum:

My Aunt Glenda is dying of cancer. She is in the end stage of the dying process. She is a wonderful woman who always blessed people in her life. Her birthday is Sept 26th. She never thought she would live long enough to see this day. Because she loves getting cards in the mail I was wondering if you would find the time to bless her with a birthday card. You can just mention in the card that you know Linda Taylor. I would love to see her get big piles of cards on what is going to be her last birthday at the age of 58.

Also, if you can forward this to some of your friends that might also send her a card, it would be so appreciated. I know some of you belong to other boards with wonderful sharing caring friends and I ask that you copy and post this on other sites as well. Our prayer is that she gets one last surprise blessing on her last birthday.

But for those of you that live far away, I have set up an online greeting card to be delivered to Linda by email on September 25. Please be sure to say where you’re from! I think it would be great for Aunt Glenda to see that people from all over are sending her greetings.
