This may sound odd and please do not be offended but i love how you depict you and her with softer lines and curves in this but your husband who is telling you “no” is more straight lines and blocks. I mean the glasses are square,..the hair is angled,…the chin is pointed,… all of it,..very symbolic,…lol
Ok there ends my Artsy Symbolism Rant,…lol. Now to the other part,..I have to ask doesn’t your family do the “2 for them 1 for us” thing for the bags of candy? I do here,…. for every 2 big bags I buy for the kids I buy a small one for the house [admittedly its just been me eating it in the past cause I lived alone but the idea holds,..lol]
Hi, Silvermane! LOL! No offense at ALL. Uh… I meant to do that. *tee hee*
It was very astute of you to notice the squared off-ness of Bill in the strip. But any symbolism is male/female.
I have difficulty drawing male characters as “masculine” so I use cubes and cylinders as a base. This is to make them less curvy.
In contrast, Zelda is pretty much a bunch of strategically-placed bubbles. Tina is (normally) all curves, but for this special strip I use a skeleton and flesh it out a little.
Regarding the Halloween candy: I may possibly have stashed a package of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (a/k/a Nature’s Most Perfect Food) aside when buying the mixed bag of giveaway candy…
Wait… I’m supposed to *give it away?!?!*
Bitflipper: If you don’t they TP your yard! (Totally worth it, IMHO.)
Odd Halloween candy story. One year quite a while back [well say a decade] my GF at the time who was working to become a Dental Tech said we should take the whole “sweets to cavities” thing into consideration when passing out candy. I ofcourse knew this was gonna lead to my trailer being egged or TPd but I loved her so I told her to handle it her way. At this point in time I had a thing for Caramels and had bought like 4 large bags to give to the kids. Halloween came around and I got all dressed up in RenFaire Gear [me and GF dressed as Antony and Cleopatra that year,.... anachronistically Antony was wearing Medieval breastplate, greaves, and shoulders instead of Roman but all I had was my Ren armor]to answer the door. When the kids arrived I went to hand out the caramel [thinking GF had not done anything "dentist friendly" at this point] when she walks behind me and hands the kids a small package of sliced apples,..smiles at me and the kids and then tells them how to make [with parents help] caramel apples and makes them promise to save atleast 2 slices uncarameled to eat after they finish the others to help “naturally brush their teeth”. I almost fell over laughing,…. she saved our house from being TPd and kept her “honor” as a dental tech.
As for Reeces Cups,..those are my weakness,…my kryptonite,… my downfall,… I love those things. I usually chill them in the fridge for a bit before eating them if I am at home.
Ha! Dental tech girlfriend is very clever. I have an early strip of Tina (an official tooth fairy) delighting in giving out candy!
I also like Butterfinger and Kit Kat and Mr. Goodbar.
here is a secret [well to some atleast] to some amazing hot chocolate on Halloween. Make sure you saw any and all 3 Musketeers bars you receive,.. or in your case of giving out candy buy a small bag. Slowly heat up milk in a saucepan [when we used to have a small gas heater we would put the pan on the Heater to warm the milk] and drop in a few bars broken up,… let it simmer slowly and melt,…. it makes the BEST hot chocolate,…lol
Oh my gosh! That sounds awesome!
I got my candy all bought and such,…. then come to realize I do not have kids in the area of my new place. I moved back to my parents property and its all adults and no kids all around us. Guess I will just have to deal with it,….looks like I will have candy bars till New Years,…lol. As for dressing up I will have to just get all garbed up and go find a neighborhood to walk through,…. its a moral imperative to dress up and walk for Halloween,…..
