You must be going buggy from all the heat! :)

I thought witches used all that stuff for potiens

If it’s a bug, insect, whatever, and it’s inside the house with me, it dies. If I’m outside, the bugs try to kill *me*. It’s only fair.

Ewwwww I hate bugs, how about those monstrous Palmetto Bugs in SC!!!!! Talk about being afraid of bugs! Ewwww and the tarantulas that can jump amazing amount of feet when I lived in Arizona along with the scorpions and black widow spiders. I am thinking I will have bad dreams tonight!

We have the Palmetto Bugs here in Texas, too. I woke up one morning to one of those monstrosities on my ceiling!

The mere thought of scorpions scares the beejezus out of me.

ha, love how you define crickets.

spiders and silverfish are the ones I cannot stand. yup, even worse than roaches or crickets.

Nancy: Yes I am! Would you believe that this summer is actually not as bad as LAST summer? I can’t tell the difference.. above 90°F and Gazillion percent humidity, it’s just plain uncomfortably hot!!

Bearman: BLEAH! I hate bugs! I will buy the prepared ingredients in the magic aisle of the grocery store. I’m not into getting my own frog hair, or bug juice or whatever…

Dale: I think your post is nearly word for word my family motto.

PattiT and MsDarkstar: Their existence is engraved on my brain. For those not from these parts, “palmetto bugs” are huge roaches that fly. *shudder*

I have only seen one palmetto bug here. If I see a roach bug, it’s one of those little “Asian roaches” …small and on the thin side. I see those crawling around in the mulch when I’m out with the dogs, and they occasionally get inside.

I haven’t seen any jumping tarantulas, but scorpions… yea, those are all over the place here. I got stung by one right after we moved in to this house. The pharmacist said it was common to have them in new construction homes around here and he often had people in new houses come in to get antihistamine for a sting.

I saw on the news that San Antonio, about 2 hours south of me, is having a cricket problem this year. I have nothing against crickets. At least, not individually…I do think I’d freak out over a “swarm” of them!

dgriff: EWWW!!! SILVERFISH!!! I hate those things too! *shudder*

Exactly, they are “long-legged roaches” they do all the bad things roaches do AND skreech all night.

Allen Garner: Yeah, I don’t care *how* much they are supposed to be lucky (and I ain’t Chinese, either), if you want to drive me crazy(er), have a cricket, or worse, a cicada in the house with me!

Well if you did kill that cricket, you’ve just ruined its chances at getting to the Backyard Summer Games 2012… It was competing for the high jump into a residence and was set to win the golden nugget…

Another Backyard Summer Games Event was Raided last week… the 100,000 Ant tug of war was canceled due to said Raid.

You guys were lucky. I have had a palmetto bug crawl across my face in the middle of the NIGHT. Took me at least 15 minutes to calm down enough to get back to sleep…. *shivers*

For me, it depends on the bug. Spiders I don’t mind if they stay out of sight as they eat other bugs…. unless the cat gets them first. (I can usually tell if she’s eaten a bug; she’ll eat her dry food, then said food comes up 3 minutes later. Eww, but it happens….) Roaches & ants get attacked; wasps/hornets (which I am slightly allergic to)/bees get *psychically* pushed away… and I watch spiders. If it’s one of those Brown Recluse ones, it also gets attacked. At my new place, anything outside the house gets taken care of, so I don’t worry about it. ;)

At least until it’s a *dog* (sorry, Sam) who gets too close to my porch; then I’m getting a super-soaker gun. Put in a Tbs. of vinegar, and the dogs will stay away….

Make it dead! lol Btw that is ow I expect my mom would look if a spider came near her. lol I used t joke about getting taranchula as a pet. hehehe wooo hahaha! I’m so evil. >:D

Rachael: Anyone who would want *any* kind of “bug” for a pet, especially a spider, isn’t evil. They’re PSYCHOTIC!!

I will start by saying that I am a natural science geek. I know, I’m weird.
Insects don’t bother me (and I’ve taken an Entomology class and have my own collection in Schmitt boxes). I will usually put the critter outside. Mosquitoes and roaches, however, will DIE if they come near me. I’m mildly allergic to the former’s bite and I acquired a dislike for the latter from my mother, and they spread disease. Flies will be swatted indoors because they are ANNOYING! If I can chase them outside, I will. Spiders will be put safely outside. They eat insects, and that’s a good thing. I know there are black widows by the patio because I’ve found their webs, but I haven’t spotted any occupants yet. I try not to touch webs with my bare hands, just in case. Haven’t encountered any brown recluses, and I hope not to. There is a small paper wasp nest in a corner of the yard where the dog can’t get at it and it’s out of the way. They also eat insects.
However, I won’t take chances with a critter I know to be venomous, like scorpions and black widows. I use caution.
My dog sometimes brings critters into the house. Geckos, moths, and 3 just-hatched cicadas that weren’t fast enough. This is why I always wear slippers when crossing the living room at night. ;)
And I find the sound of crickets on a warm summer night one of the most soothing sounds I know.

rofl, oh that is so classic, Witchy! but where was the scream? Usually a hysterical scream, then running thru the house announcing at the top of ones lungs that there is a bug of nasty origin in said room. A lot of hopping around, climbing on chairs and grabbing anyone who unwillingly enters the room is accosted. that only happens here when a nasty miller gets in the house. I don’t mind spiders, and we don’t have roaches up here. see, living in the tundra is good! LOL

Hi, Allen! Exactly! Though I don’t find the chirping too bad unless they are directly under my window!

Kurt: You know I hate sports. Hahahaha

Ketira: EWwwww… across your FACE?! *shudder* I am totally against bugs in the house. If it’s inside the home, it must die!

Rachel: LOL at teasing your mom. When I was a kid, we’d often get those black plastic spider rings/clips around Halloween. Of course, we’d lose them somewhere around the house…usually in the couch cushions or between the end table and the wall. We’d always know when mom found one by the screech!

Dale: I always think that when I see spiders in the petstore…WHY? (Also, we have tarantulas in the flower beds. Why would anyone in Texas BUY one?)

JoanH: Now you know I’m a science geek, too. But any insects or arachnids that get inside my walls can consider their lives forfeit. Lizards that get in, if they escape the dogs, get caught and put outside though. And EWWWW… imagined the crunchy sound and feel of stepping on a cicada. Even just the husk grosses me out!

LBD: You know.. I think I will go back in and put in a screech! It should be there. So should Zelda’s other leg…

Those poor cicadas were newly emerged and too soft to go crunch. Squish would have been infinitely worse. You’d probably hear me screaming all the way to Texas!

I hate all bugs. Even though I teased my mom about getting a tarantula last night! XD

hahaha… and *shudder* I was just showing someone a pic of a tarantula that lives in or near our porch.
