Wipe Out

I spilled coffee on the notebook I was using while sketching out ideas for today’s strip. After that, all I could think of was spilled coffee!

Here is the sketch I drew on the coffee-stained pages:

I tried scratching and sniffing my screen for that coffee scent but couldn’t smell a thing…

You poor thing! I hope your notebook wasn’t ruined by the coffee.

Here’s hoping Zelda’s hat is washable.

I think we’ve all done that. We make a mess and use the first thing in our reach to clean it up. I shamelessly used a classmates sweater once…. but he was a meanie anyways. :P That or I’ve used a sack or a shirt… whatever is handy. I hope your book wasn’t ruined either! ^_^

Tea can do the same thing for your keyboard, tested this unvoluntary at work. ^^

I love the look on her face in the third panel…too bad I have the same one on mine most of the time. Oops! ;)

When you said “Steno” notebook all I could think of was Sterno and got very confused! MMm flaming notebook.

And aw, glad it wasn’t any worse. Such a fine line between “notebook I love” and “notebook I love too much to use for fear of wrecking it”.

Good morning, all!

DadaHyena: I shudder to think what the internets would do with scratch-n-sniff technology!

Dale: It wasn’t too bad since it’s just a scratch pad. But you know that feeling when you have a nice new notebook all ready to go and then something happens to it.

Erin: I’ve been known to use my sleeve…Especially if I slosh when I’m over at someone’s house! (I’m particularly sloshy with coffee for some reason.)

Cemalidor: I have a long list of things I have spilled on my keyboard. My very bad habit of eating/snacking at my desk or while reading has many casualties.

Bec: I’m so glad you said that. I had a hard time with the faces on panel 2 and 3. In panel 2 she was supposed to be looking around for a napkin or towel, but I just couldn’t make it come across. So I decided to make it look as if she was making a decision in panel 2 and acting what she knew wasn’t the best decision in panel 3.

Nycteris: ROFL at “Sterno.” This notebook is a top bound spiral stenographers pad I can buy in bulk from Sam’s. I use them for scratch pads here at my desk or in my little portfolios that I carry around with me. They get the worst abuse, or nearly the worst. I also have lots of pocket-sized note pads that I leave all over the house, in my car, purse, and give away at conventions. HAHAHAH

I LOVED the third panel. My interpretation was that the face in panel 3 was contrite. Like she knew it wasn’t right but she had no choice. The little tiny o mouth was perfect.

Tooty: You’re exactly right. My other option for the mouth was a zigzaggy line. I think I’m going to make panel 3 my new avatar. HAHAH

Or is that instead an technique to dye the hat?

Zelda’s expressions in this page are so much fun!

I guess this is one of those situations where paper towels aren’t available.

@Cemalidor: You’ve heard of “tea-stained” linen? Coffee staining is WAY better. (Actually, that’s true. Saw it on one of those craft shows.)

Meggy: Zelda is at her mother-in-law’s house. With no kids, they don’t need to keep the towels handy at all times, so they’re stored neatly out of site. (As a total klutz, I am always knocking stuff over. I should not be allowed around that stains or breaks.)

That’s why Cemalidor (back then my first RPG chara using that name, an halfelf Rogue/Bard) always reserved a spell slot for the cantrip Prestidigitation (see here: http://dndsrd.net/bardSpells.html ) ;)

Oh how I wish I could Prestidigitate! HAHAHAH That would be so freakin’ handy! *grin*

now I wanna coffee but it’s way past bed time, I said I was going on the last strip lol, so I can’t *sulk sulk* but loving the giggles you give me :D
