Yes, this is based on a true event, except the surprise treat was “Toaster Strudel.”  My favorite flavor of Pop-Tart is shown here, though (Frosted Brown-Sugar Cinnamon).

When I was a kid, I loved frosted “Concord Grape” flavor, but they aren’t making that anymore.

What is your favorite Pop-Tart flavor? If you don’t eat them, what is a sweet, pre-packaged treat that you indulge in every now and then?

Hostess cupcakes (chocolate) or Twinkies

I rarely eat pop-tarts anymore. There was… an incident in high school which sort of put me off them. It’s a funny story but really has to be told in person–ask my at DWEX if you remember & wanna here it :)

Sweet, pre-packaged treat, though? That would be cookies. Of almost any sort. I am the Cookie Monster’s illegitimate daughter.

Nancy! OMG! I haven’t had those in AGES!! *tosses diet out the window*

Ahem… that should read “me” and “hear” (dumb fingers, thinking about cookies… COOKIES!!!!)

Hi, Scraps! Oh, I’m so going to ask you about the Pop-Tart incident. My hubby and son are with you on the cookie thing. There are only 3 flavors of cookies that I really like, though: Oreos, Nutter Butters, and Pitter Patters. I don’t think they make PitterPatters anymore, but the Girl Scouts have a version of them (oatmeal cookies with peanut butter).

Chocolate-filled Double-stuff Oreos (or their generic counterpart, Faux-reos) are a staple in our house. That and those Lofthouse super-soft fluffy cookies with the thick icing. Okay, serious, sugar-shock is settling in. lol

Lesse see…Pop-tarts? Either chocolate fudge or frosted blueberry, and if I can’t get them Little Debbie chocolate covered mini-donuts! *sits on box with diet inside while I eat chocolate* nom nom! ^_^

Favorite Pop Tart flavor is Frosted Raspberry. Which, of course, I can’t find anymore. No matter, we don’t have a toaster.

I also like cinnamon… but in Pillsbury Toaster Strudels. They put enough frosting to have fun with, so I just make the “traditional” crisscrossed pattern. :9

Laffy Taffy….

I’ve toasted them in the oven on a cookie sheet. I heat them until they are hot then turn on the broiler to just barely brown the frosting or if unfrosted the crust.

Done right the crust is crispy but not hard, the filling is dangerously hot and the frosting is nicely caramelized.

Cool to a safe level before serving!

Dale: *chuckle* at the Diet-in-a-Box. For the tiny packaged doughnuts, it’s got to be powdered sugar for me. MmMmMmmmm

MsDarkStar: That’s how I feel about Frosted Concord Grape! They don’t make it anymore! *writes congressman* And you NEED a toaster for warming those little tortillas! Hahaha

Ketira: There are CINNAMON TOASTER STRUDELS?!?! *boing* I now have a quest! To find the elusive Cinnamon Toaster Strudel. I never could make a good pattern. I end up just blobbing the frosting out and spreading it around with a fork.

Elisabeth: Though it sounded familiar, I had to look up Laffy Taffy. Oh yes! I remember it. I’ve seen it in the store but never bought any. I shy away from the really chewy stuff, but hubby likes it.

MrMeval: I am totally ROFLMAO at the Pop Tart Incendiary experiment. The “scientific report” tone was hilarious. You didn’t tell us your favorite flavor?! Unless “on fire” is a flavor…

I love the new Banana Split Chocolate Pop Tarts. And for some bizarre reason, pop tarts don’t raise my glucose levels like you’d imagine. Pop Tarts ARE my friend.

Just for the record, I don’t like my snarling avatar. it’s Not Me.

Hi, Tooty!!! I have not tried the Banana Split ones! It sounds like something I would like, tho. *adds to shopping list*

Sorry about the snarler. Those are randomly generated. To get your own avatar, go to gravatar.com. You associate an image with an email address and every blog post you make with that email (on any blog with the gravatar service), you get your own pic.

Smore’s poptarts. If you don’t like smore’s I don’t think you’re human…. :P

Er… What I meant by that is if you don’t like smore’s in general, it doesn’t have to be your favorite. I just can’t fathom someone not liking Chocolate mixed with warm toasty marshmellows. ^_^ Mmmmmmmmmmmm

I have a horrible Pop-Tart incident too.

One time I found a Pop-tart and took it to work with me for breakfast. I think I started eating it, untoasted, in the car on the way to work, when I noticed a crumb dangling from the side.

Then I realized crumbs don’t dangle.

So I tossed it, and its tiny worm friends, out. Blargh.

I don’t eat many pre-packaged breakfast pastries, but I really really love Cobblestones (kind a a cinnamon-raisin iced pull-apart thing) from Paneras. Mmm I was wanting one all week.

Hmm I’d have to say strawberry frosted is my fave pop-tart. But Red Vine (red licorice) is my fave treat…. don’t get them very often though.

I used to eat Pop-Tarts when I was a kid (the Chocolate Fudge kind, which is more or less the equivalent of eating a bowl of sugar)…it’s unbelievable what kind of crap kids are allowed to eat. The fact that I’m not a diabetic now is nothing short of a miracle.

Opps, it’s blueberry. ;)

Nycteris: EWWWWWWW!!! At least it wasn’t HALF a worm. *shudder*

Nessa: Howdy! For strawberry, I prefer unfrosted. That is odd coming from me. HAHAHA I like Twizzlers over Red Vines, though.

DadaHyena: My kids like those Chocolate Fudge things. I rarely buy them. Poptarts are a sometime weekend treat in our house. (We like crap! Hahah)

MrMeval: OooOoOO.. bluuuuuberry … A favorite among PopTart connoisseurs.

S’mores. There is none better. But if I had to go for a back up, frosted Strawberry. ^_^
Those are always so good.

My fav backup to Smores poptarts are Hershey Kisses and Cookie Dough Ice Cream. Yummmmmm, sugary goodness! They serve these on buffet tables in Heaven I bet.

Erin: sorry I missed your post up there! My kids are with you and Manda on the s’mores poptarts, but they never were my favorite.

Your mention of cookie dough ice cream reminded me of one of my guilty pleasures: I’d get the tube of pilsbury cookie dough…and not make any cookies with it! *insert witchy cackle of glee here*

Manda: WELCOME! Frosted Strawberry is a flavor we get. Oddly, I prefer my strawberry unfrosted. With black coffee. ACK! Like an OLD person!

I have not found a flavor of Pop-Tart that I don’t like. My kids eat hot fudge sundae, chocolate chip cookie dough, chocolate fudge flavors, and my husband and I mainly stick to blueberry and frosted raspberry (which you can still find in Mississippi, thank goodness!), but I indulge in the other flavors at times. Of course, this is why I am on the Atkins Diet plan right now!

My favorite was always cherry without frosting. And then, for a while, I liked those pop-tart danish swirly ones they had. Again, I liked the cherry one. Mmmmm gosh, it’s been YEARS. I’ll make sure to have some pop tarts when I visit the US later this year!

“I have not found a flavor of Pop-Tart that I don’t like…Of course, this is why I am on the Atkins Diet plan right now!”

I love you, Paige. HAHAHAHAH

Irma: Are you making a list of things to enjoy while you’re over here from Sweden? I’d love to know what’s at the top of your list!

I must admit, I don’t like poptarts and I don’t like smores. actually, I’d probably like smores without the marshmallow…but then it wouldn’t be a smore…also don’t like my peanut butter mixed with anything! I know, I’m weird.

guilty pleasures…Dark chocolate! kettlecorn, hot tamales–the candy, almonds, pecans and cashews. prepackaged: Samoas from the Girl Scouts! Just got two boxes!

Blueberry… not that I can find them as anything other than part of a variety pack locally. Years ago when I was a delivery guy I used to toss a pair of ‘em on the windshield defrost vent on the car’s dashboard and leave ‘em there for an hour or so with the blower going in the winter. Warms them up nicely.

Hello, CT! Welcome! Love the dashboard-warming method! That’s awesome. I’ve lived in the south most of my life…we avoid putting ANYTHING on the dashboard. *grin*

LBD: My favorite girl scout cookies = Do-si-dos. You don’t like PopTarts?!? And I thought I KNEW you!

Due to the overwhelming support for Blueberry Poptarts. I have created this affiliated link: Blueberry Pop Tarts

That’s right… I have a BLUEBERRY-FLAVORED LINK!

I lived in the snow belt of the Great Lakes region at the time.. Halloween costumes had to be big enough to fit over snowsuits.

The west coast is much nicer. ;)
