Check out this Sketch

Every now and then, I manage to draw something a little closer to the way I WANT to draw.

For example, I couldn’t sleep tonight so I decided to go ahead and sketch out the next comic.  The sketch for panel two actually looks the way I want to draw Life’s a Witch one day! So I finished it out.

What do you think?

Hey, that’s actually pretty darn good! Why can’t you draw the strip like that all the time? (scratches head in wonderment)

Oh, I would LOVE to do that. I think I’m getting close to going for it, too.

I really like the look of the characters in “The Dreamer” comic by Lora Innes. Every time I look at her stuff, I come away inspired.

It’s a progression, you’ll get there and I’d say soon by the looks of this :)

wow! looks awesome ;0)

It looks awesome, I am guessing it would be a lot more time consuming to do it this way. It seems more detailed. Either way, I am impressed with your skills.

Nice posing, Samantha!

Wow! Thanks, Guys!

It is a progression, Scraps. I just have to keep making myself TRY to do it this way.

You know, I had a professor in college that was a real taskmaster. If you did something that was normally beyond what you did normally, his token response to that was, “If you can do that now, you can do that always.”

Don’t feel like you are being forced to keep you comic to standards that will make you not want to draw it anymore. I, for one thing, come for the story first, the art next and then sharing of myself in statements like this third.

(Darn, now I’ve gone and gotten sappy again.) u_u’

That’s similar to what my husband tells me, Dale: “If you did it once, you can do it again!”

And if you want to get sappy, I get a lot of personal satisfaction from doing the comic, but the reward is having folks come in to comment and share on each strip. This is one of the ways that Webcomics are so much more fun for the creators than newspaper comics. <3

I really like this piece. :) But to me, it is better to make a fun comic you enjoy than to kill yourself to make a page to a standard that makes you frustrated. I know with the art I draw, such as it is, the pieces that take the longest don’t get as many comments as the simple silly stuff. (Though sometimes this makes me scratch my head.) Anyway: Hooray ! This looks REALLY great!
