Samantha in Dallas Art News

Online magazine Dallas Art News specializes in keeping up with the art news in the central Texas area. They’ve wonderfully opened up their audience to web comics with their feature article “Webcomics Imitating Art.”   Web comic artists were invited to recreate famous paintings using their own comic characters and comic style.

My version of John Singer Sargent’s “Madame X”  is included in the article!  You can see it below next to the original.

Please check out the wonderful article on the Dallas Art News website, which features work from a total of 19 web comic creators, including my web comic pals:

Thanks for mentioning the Webcomics Imitating Art special feature. The number of artists and webcomic art exhibited is way beyond our initial expectation.

Your “Madame Hex” is a wonderful recreation of John Singer Sargent’s “Madame X”. Thank you for participating.

If ever you have an art themed story line, please let us know so we can share with our viewers. Cheers.

Thanks for coming by the comic!! I really enjoyed doing the piece. Sargent is one of my favorite artists.

I hadn’t planned on doing an art-themed strip, but since you’ve put the idea in my head it keeps coming up in my brain. *grin*

I hope Dallas Art News makes this an annual event…or does a twist on the idea, such as taking a pic from a local gallery and having webcomickers comic it up. What fun!

Oh wow, that’s really sweet! You’re EVEN MORE famous!

Welcome back, Nyc! Yes, now THREE people who aren’t related to me know who I am! Whoo hoo! *grin*
