The Pharmacy

Yeah, really!  That’s the kind of information you should say right up front, don’t you think? I mean, we aren’t IDIOTS, right?

Details, details….

There are different ways to get drugs into the body, and some methods work better for certain drugs. Consider all the medications that are taken by mouth, for instance, and most of them have NOTHING to do with your digestive tract. In fact, I have a anti-nausea medication that is definitely NOT taken by mouth! I will spare you the details.

HAH! I’ve had that particular med myself, JoanH. *eeep!* I remember my mom wanting to give me a pill for a knee injury when I was a kid. It made ZERO sense to me. I love that the flu vaccine is a nasal spray. (At least it was around here.)

Mr P: *hee hee*

Reminds on a book where McCoy and Spock were discussing about the use of alcohol. In quintessence Spock said something like if he were about to cloud his judgement by alcohol he would do it intravenous instead drinking it.

/gives JoanH a hug

My allergy med right now says to take as needed AT NIGHT (emphasis mine). If I have to take it “at night”, that is not “as needed”, don’t you think?

Sometimes the people who write the “destructions” for the medicines should have passed their English Composition classes, right?

Not necessarily, Dale.

Assume that the allergic reaction you have ends up constricting your airway. Now, when you’re having the attacks, at day you can react to it. in your sleep… It might be too late when your body realizes it’s been cut off from oxygen.

Not something I’d want to wake up to…

Cemalidor–How sweet of you! I return a hug of my own.
Speaking of “destructions”, I believe this is a true story: A man was given a prescription for drops to treat an ear problem. The directions were “3 drops a day in r ear”, the “r” being an abbreviation for “right”. When typed up for the bottle, it now read “rear”. When he returned to the doctor after using the drops, he discovered WHY they weren’t making his ear better! Common sense is unfortunately not common enough.

Line-T: Luckily my allergies don’t work that way. In my case, I do have something wrong with my sinuses. They are like a drain that has a perpetual clog in it which needs Draino to open it back up again.

JoanH: Unfortunately, most people tend to be sheep, blindly following directions without questioning why. That’s one reason that there are so many deaths from mismanaged medicines by elderly persons.

Anyway, to change the subject, Happy Thanksgiving USA!

No turkey for me… :sadpanda:

Well, anyway hope you all have a nice day/party.

Hi, guys! *chuckle* at your stories.

I’m glad I don’t have allergies to contend with…though I did break out in hives when I didn’t have a date for the ring dance (a/k/a junior prom) when I was in high school. I figured I was allergic to being dateless for big events.

XD I was not one of the “popular people” during high school, plus being a member of the band to boot, so I was considered a “nerd”.

I went to my senior year victory party (football) with what was considered (again) by the “p. p.” to be the nerdiest girl in school. I was so nervous about going I had developed hysterical hiccups. I couldn’t stop no matter what for the entire night! Only after all was done did they stop. To say the least, I didn’t go to my senior prom. ^_^’

OMG, I’m dyin’ laughing at the hysterical hiccups. Dale, that’s a total riot.

I was the nerdiest girl in school myself: Band (flag corp), Latin Club, Science Club and ROTC. *sheesh* I REFUSED to go through the same thing for Senior prom… so I worked up the nerve to ask a boy myself. My chosen was a fellow nerd, but the nerd that hangs out with the P.P. (know what I mean?) I went up and asked, though I could feel my face burning beet red. And he turned me down… he was very nice about it (family plans). I ended up going with someone else, though. I don’t recall if I asked him or he asked me, but I had had a crush on him earlier in the year. The boy I first asked ended up going with another girl, but he very politely asked me for a dance during the evening. I often wonder whatever happened to him.

Around here it is near impossible to get the flu medications. The regular flu shot I was able to get because I went early for it, now they quit making it. The H1N1 they keep saying will be available soon?!?! PS. I am considered too old for the spray, sadly.

PattiT: Last I heard, the H1N1 flu isn’t as bad as the seasonal flu this year, so you got the vaccine for the WORST one.
