A Last Birthday Greeting–UPDATE

[UPDATE: Linda printed out the card and beautifully bound and decorated it. She told me in an email:

I re-read each page as it came out of the printer and it really touched me. To see it online is amazing but to hold each page and read each one up close.... I just can't put into words how much this means to me.

Doesn't that make you smile? Linda told me that the online card was a big hit. Her Aunt Glenda was amazed that so many strangers would take the time to write a note or send a card to her.

Thank you all for helping make this birthday so sweet for Linda, Aunt Glenda and her family. ~S]

My friend Linda has a dear aunt that has lost the fight against cancer. Her upcoming birthday will be her last and Linda thought it would be nice for Aunt Glenda and her family to have her room filled with birthday greetings and well wishes.

Aunt Glenda has fought the battle with grace and humor and love. I know that had she been among us, she would be one of our friends because she’d fit right in!

Here is the note that Linda posted on our forum:

My Aunt Glenda is dying of cancer. She is in the end stage of the dying process. She is a wonderful woman who always blessed people in her life. Her birthday is Sept 26th. She never thought she would live long enough to see this day. Because she loves getting cards in the mail I was wondering if you would find the time to bless her with a birthday card. You can just mention in the card that you know Linda Taylor. I would love to see her get big piles of cards on what is going to be her last birthday at the age of 58.

Also, if you can forward this to some of your friends that might also send her a card, it would be so appreciated. I know some of you belong to other boards with wonderful sharing caring friends and I ask that you copy and post this on other sites as well. Our prayer is that she gets one last surprise blessing on her last birthday.
Thanks from the bottom of my heart,
Tooty

The family would like to receive greeting cards in the mail before Aunt Glenda’s birthday on SEPT. 26, 2009 (email me for the address). But for those of you that live far away, I have set up an online greeting card to be delivered to Linda by email on September 25. Please be sure to say where you’re from! I think it would be great for Aunt Glenda to see that people from all over are sending her greetings.

I’m really sorry about your friend’s aunt dying.

Thank you, Seshiru.

It is good to “see” you.

I sent a card. It has to be so hard for the family, especially with her being so young.

I hope they are amazed and delighted by our cards.

Nice to hear the cards were appreciated. On the forum that I belong to she asked us to send cards, we did, and never heard back from her? People left messages for her as to how her aunt was doing, wish we knew more.

Oh, I’m sorry. I do know she did try to tell everyone who sent cards thank you, and then notify them of Aunt Glenda’s passing. Her world’s been in a bit of upheaval the last few months. I’ll gladly give her a little nudge to visit your group and thank you all in person. Here’s what I posted elsewhere:

My friend Linda has let me know that her dear Aunt Glenda passed away Oct. 27. She wanted me to pass on her and the family’s gratitude for the cards, prayers and well-wishes and regards sent their way. Thank you to all that signed the group card for her, too. Glenda was in a coma the last couple of days and passed peacefully.

Thank you for the nudge, she posted today to let people know what had happened. I just hated for people to feel used, since she has not posted often at that site over the years. I did not know that her aunt had passed on, until today.
