What a Day!

Lots of good comickery things have happened to me today! Check it out!

My rendition of what’s under Zorphbert & Fred’s earth costumes won the “True Identities” contest! Whoo hoo! Dawn Griffin said she actually laughed out loud. I think the Coppertone girl was so out of left field it totally surprised her. And guess what? Some characters from Life’s a Witch get to cameo in a Zorphbert & Fred strip! Squeee!!

Next, Ed Appleby of Eds R Us (around PG-13) sent me the ORIGINAL ARTWORK for the strip he created from my script idea! WOW! Not only is it very cool to receive ORIGINAL artwork out of the blue, but it is great to see how other artists work. Ed is a web comic machine. I’m a fan of Ed and the comic Ed’s R Us, for sure.

Chris Watkins of the wonderful webcomic, Odori Park (G-rated), just successfully challenged himself to make comics every day for 30 days.  Chris shared his notes and observations with his readers and the web comic community during the challenge month.  I thought this was fabulous of him, not only for rising to the challenge but also for giving us the benefit of his experience.  In the notes on his working process, he gave me a little hat tip for some notebooks I sent him. What a nice guy!

What a wonderful community of folks web comic creators are! It is such a joy to be a part of it!

On a not-so-joyful note: Things are still on the outs here.. August is one of the busiest months for me with school starting soon. I’m off buying school clothes and getting all the stuff done that I intended to do over summer! (More proof that Witchy is based on me!) I am spending my evenings running virus scans and defragging and otherwise cleaning up the computer so I can get back to making more strips! I find I really do miss doing it.  I am trying to do some strips the traditional way, but am finding it even more frustrating than the digital way. (On the plus side, my tradional drawing is a bit better for having done the comic in WHATEVER way. Hooray!) I will be back to a regular LOOKING comic on a regular schedule as soon as I can!!! Thank you for stopping by!

Congrats on the win, Samantha! Just saw your winning entry, and I agree–that’s way out of left field :) The “reward” strip is a hoot, too.
And thanks for the kind words!

HAHAH! I just went and looked. It was GREAT! I’m off to make a separate post about it now.
