Garden Gnomes

My husband loves it now that the kids are old enough to take some of the yard work chores.

A friend of mind said she loves her three kids. They are old enough now to be indentured servants.

HAHAHA. Friend is funny. I think husband only agreed to HAVE kids so he could get out of some of the yard work.

my father always called us chore machines as kids, and once my sister moved out, (she was the youngest) instead of doing yard work he had the front yard ripped out and mother made a big garden that he doesn’t have to touch… so I can relate.

hey, samantha!

mike sent me the link to your site today and i was very charmed. your comic is a lot of fun and the site is pretty neat, too. the “ask samantha” section was fun to read!

since i’m here, i might as well see if you’d be interested in a project i’ve been working on for the last year. it’s called SUGAR NINJAS and is an all-girls comics/illustration anthology that features around 110 girls and about 600 pages (whew).

most of the girls are former students/alumni from my scad sequential art classes (i created their bfa and mfa programs over 18 years ago). i don’t work there anymore, because of certain seriously disturbed people, but i am still wanting to promote the idea of girls being every bit as qualified to do comics as the guys.

i’m actually working tonight and tomorrow on uploading the final version of the book. it will be made available first at lulu.com and soon at amazon, barnes and noble, etc.

the price of the book will cover printing costs only, so nobody (including me) will make any money from initial online sales, although any artist can order their own copies (for about $12.00) and probably charge like $25.00 (as i said, it is a huuuuge book and we’ll be leaving some blank pages for sketches, too).

all copyrights, duh, belong EXCLUSIVELY to each artist, not me.

if you’re interested and can send in files before wednesday afternoon, you can send them to: anabunni@gmail.com

300 dpi jpgs…

black and white…but we can also grayscale color files.

the book is landscape format, 9 x 7…each page has a print area of 81/2 x 61/2. there will be two versions of the book. the first one will have adorable, girly girl material…but also more “mature” work (violence, bad language, slight nudity). the second version will be a high school oriented book without the edgier stuff.

if this sounds like something you’d like to be involved with, let me know and send me some files before tomorrow night!

thanks, bob (= 0 o 0 =)

JohnK: We may do that to our yard anyway! (No one should have to do outdoor chores in Texas.)

Bob: OMG! I would love to be a part of that. I will email you for more info. (and it’s great to hear from you!)

ATTN Readers! Since this is such short notice, I will use some strips from the site. Send me suggestions of what you think will look great.

I’m pretty sure my parents have had this conversation many, many times…

Hi, Speearr! Welcome! I think every parent has conversations along these lines! *grin*

Ha, I laughed. Always look at things with the right perspective and you’re good.

also, @BOB: That anthology sounds like a great idea. “I am still wanting to promote the idea of girls being every bit as qualified to do comics as the guys.” From a guy webcomic-er, amen to that. I’d love to see more girls in the arena. Maybe there are tons out there that I haven’t yet discovered. Nice work!

Thanks, D.Long! Judging by your own comic, I am sure you “get” my humor. *hee hee* I sure enjoy yours!
