Understanding

Tina is so wise. I don’t know if it’s because she is such a great observer or if understanding our hearts is natural to fairies.

Not wanting cake is pretty unnatural.

I am quite partial to giant cookie cakes myself. But I am not going to put down a good ol’ birthday cake!

Make the cack anyway. She won’t even remember saying she didn’t want the cake. She’s a teen-ager, therefore her listening priorities are changing. Most teen-agers hear adults like Charlie Brown’s teachers, they sound like a horn doing the “wa wa” sound effect.

My bad spelling has finally come out. That’s “cake” not “cack”. ^_^’

Being the tooth fairy probably helps. She gets to observe kids a lot without, you know, actually having to raise them.

Get her a small cake, she wants it she just doesn’t want you to think she wants it.

Parties are understandable though, they just get kidish around that point. Well, at least parent thrown parties.

Really unnatural. I mean, the cake. I often make a cake for myself for no reason… To not want a party is ok. But do not want to have a cake? Seriously… isn’t she just sick?:) Maybe that’s why…

HAHAH! I am enjoying your comments. In real life, real daughter had birthday doughnuts. In fake life, Louise is going to get a cake!

Kate, that’s a good thought about parties being “kidish” in your early teens. I think that is what daughter is thinking. She wanted to go out to dinner like an “adult” party. (We always go out to eat for my and hubby’s birthdays.)

Meggy: Giant cookie cake is one of daughter’s favorites too! I may get her one today (it’s tryouts for honors band…will be celebration cookie if she makes it or consolation cookie if she doesn’t .. but she will make it.)

Brigid: You’re right. Also, I think Tina has been so close with the family that she just knows them all so very well. Maybe a bit better than they know each other.

Aww what a cute comic! I LOVE the 2nd panel, great body language and perfect expressions!

Thanks, Gregori! I like it, too. I wish I could be more consistent. In the case of this particular strip, I drew each panel at different times as my brain couldn’t stay focused. (However, tomorrow’s strip is much the same as far as consistency goes, so that excuse really doesn’t hold water.)

She… she doesn’t want… cake? Is… she… CRAZY?!?!?!?

haha whoa. I’m a teen and there no way in hell I’m going without a cake for my next birthday XD
Even if I didn’t want cake, we’d have to have it anyway because it’d dissapoint all the little children in the house.

haha! There MUST be cake!
