Santa Sign

One upon a time when I was a little kid, we didn’t have a tree.  My daddy made a sign that read “Santa: Put toys here” and there was an arrow pointing to the floor.  We didn’t have a tree because we had just moved overseas to Turkey.  The very next year was the first year with the wonderfully cheesy silver tree.

Aren’t you thrilled to know all this stuff?

Your father was in the service? Which branch, if I may be so nosy to ask?

Hey, Dale! Dad was in the Air Force. It was to Incerlik AFB near Adana, Turkey, that we moved that year. The silver tree with hot-pink globe ornaments and spotlight was bought at the Base Exchange there.

(Incidentally, my hubby is an Army brat… we have a successful mixed marriage! Hahahah)

Heh, at least your father wasn’t in the Navy. THAT would have been a REAL mixed marriage!

Now THAT is funny! In a wonderfully wacky Witchy kind of way.

hahah! Thanks, GZ.

UPDATE: Spoke to my mom today and she mentioned the silver tree. It seems my cousin remembered that tree and found one for herself! Hahahahah.
