Twilight Movie Unimpressive to the Goblins

My son and daughter went to see TWILIGHT this evening and came back extremely disappointed.  All three of us have read the book, but they were the ones who wanted to see the movie. (I am old enough to have been burned by many book-to-movie translations and knew better.  Nowadays, if I’ve read the book, I don’t see the movie until it is available for rent.. or comes on TV!)

Here is a summary of comments made by my 16-year-old son:  It wasn’t that great of a movie.  They left out some scenes from the book that were more important that the ones they put in:  The science lab where they had to find blood type, for instance, and the legend told by the lake should have been in there.  And when Edward blocks Bella in her truck so she can’t get out when the other boy wants to ask her out was one of my favorite scenes from the book.  Alice should have been depicted WAY more than she was, too.  The soundtrack was pretty good, though.

My 12-year-old daughter was more critical of the entertainment value of the movie and the acting itself.  She said that everyone, especially Bella, spoke in the same monotone thoroughout the movie.  The narrated parts were terrible.  She seemed to feel that they took an exciting story and made it boring.  Says it isn’t worth renting for me to see later.  It was “okay” but not worth seeing again.

Did anyone else see Twilight?  What did you think of it?
